FD man sentenced for waving handgun on bus

Fair to serve five years in prison

NEWTON — A Fort Dodge man accused of waving a gun around while on a charter bus has been given a five year prison sentence.

Marcus Fair, 28, was sentenced this week in Jasper County District Court.

According to the criminal complaint, on June 2, 2023, Fair was riding on a charter bus through Jasper County. He was said to be intoxicated and waving an unloaded handgun. Law enforcement arrested Fair at a truck stop on the east edge of Newton. He was taken into custody and found to have three bullets in his pants pocket and was also found in possession of marijuana.

District Court Judge Brad McCall sentenced Fair with being a felon in possession of a firearm as well as second offense possession of a controlled substance.
