WEBSTER CITY — Former Webster City resident Margy Wood dropped by a few of her favorite local places Friday and lifted their worlds.

She did this through her personal generosity and the Margy Wood Legacy Fund, which is administered by the Okoboji Foundation.

To Kendall Young Library, Wood gave $190,873.43.

To the First Congregational Church, she gave $9,543.67, which will become an annual distribution.

“Today our church was blessed to receive this generous donation of $9,543.67 presented by Margy Wood, who has created the Margy Wood Legacy Fund, which will be administered through the Okoboji Foundation,” the Rev. Craig Blaufuss said. “First Congregational will receive a yearly distribution thanks to Margy’s foresight and dedication to our church. Thank you so much, Margy!”

Her gift to Webster City Community Theatre echoed that of the UCC gift.

“What a wonderful morning!” said WCCT Board President Anne Blankenship. “Webster City Community Theatre received a generous donation on Friday morning in the amount of $9,543.67 from the Margy Wood Legacy Fund, through the Okoboji Foundation. That amount represents the first of an ongoing annual donation.”

Wood was on hand to present the check to several WCCT members.

Blankenship said Wood was the first donor to step forward in 1992 when WCCT embarked on a campaign to raise funds to purchase the WCCT building.

Starting at $2.99/week.
