Carolyn Elsberry, of Fort Dodge, sets up supplies Friday for The Messenger Home & Garden Show at Iowa Central Community College.
A special event awaits everyone itching to get to work on spring chores around the house and garden.
The Home & Garden Show sponsored by The Messenger begins today and continues Sunday.
The show hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
It is important to note that the show is being held at a new location this year. It is being held in the Career Education Building on the main Fort Dodge campus of Iowa Central Community College. The Career Education Building is the big white structure across the parking lot from the Iowa Works office.
The price for admission is canned goods, hygiene items or cleaning products to be donated to The Lord’s Cupboard.
The first 50 people to arrive on both days will receive a door prize.
Also, visitors at the show can register to win a basket full of gardening supplies provided by Becker Florist. There are two baskets, each filled with different items, to be given away.
About 35 vendors, ranging from contractors to companies selling backyard grills, will be at the show.
There will be a children’s area where kids can plant some flower seeds to take home and watch them grow. There will also be a coloring contest.
The Groovy Smoothie food truck will be on site during show hours.
