Lutz appointed to Iowa DOGE Task Force
Reynolds hopes group will ‘ask tough questions’
Former Fort Dodge Mayor Terry Lutz has been appointed to Gov. Kim Reynolds’ Iowa Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Task Force.
Reynolds held the first meeting of the task force Wednesday in Des Moines.
“This task force is yet another opportunity to apply Iowa’s proven formula of asking tough questions and making bold, transformative changes,” said Reynolds.
Lutz joins 15 other leaders on the Task Force, including Emily Schmitt of Sukup Manufacturing Co., Nick Bowdish of Elite Octane, Brianne Schulte of Vermeer, Adam Keune from the University of Iowa’s Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, Crawford County Supervisor Craig Dozard, Dallas County Recorder ReNae Arnold, Beth Tinsman with Twin State Technical Services, Kathy Kay with Principal Financial Group, Ryan Schaap with Well Enterprises, Dave Mulcahy with MABSCO Investments, David Spalding of Iowa State University’s College of Business, Reynolds Cramer with Fareway, Joe Murphy with the Iowa Business Council, Hans Wilz with the Iowa House of Representatives and Dan Dawson with the Iowa Senate.
“I couldn’t have more confidence in the talented members of this group, under Emily Schmitt’s leadership, to build on our strong foundation and chart the course for more efficient government at all levels for Iowans,” said Reynolds.
According to Reynolds, her goals for the DOGE Task Force is to “maximize return on taxpayer investment, leverage emerging technology such as artificial intelligence, and further refining workforce and job training programs.”
Reynolds stated on her website that she expects to have a report submitted to her by the Task Force in 180 days.
