FD man killed; run over by semitrailer
A Fort Dodge man is dead after being run over by a semitrailer at a farm facility in Indiana where he was working.
Jose Guadalupe Aguilar Vargas, 46, was pronounced dead at Egg Innovations in Warsaw, Indiana, on Friday afternoon.
According to the Kosciusko County, Indiana, Sheriff’s Office, Vargas was walking along the passenger side of a 2017 Peterbilt 389 semi driven by Christopher C. Sotelo Morales, 43, of St. Marys, Ohio. Morales was unloading product between two long barns. Morales told officers that he believes Vargas slipped on a steep embankment on a corner he was driving around. When he saw Vargas underneath his vehicle’s trailer wheel, he immediately stopped and told officers he believed he ran over Vargas’ hip and stomach area.
Vargas was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
