Former officer faces another sex offense charge

EAGLE GROVE — A former Eagle Grove police officer accused of sending obscene photos to a minor now faces an additional criminal charge.

Colt Richardson, 27, was arrested by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation on Jan. 13 and charged with dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to a minor, according to the state Department of Public Safety.

On Thursday, the Wright County Attorney’s Office announced that Richardson has also been charged with sexual exploitation of a minor.

Investigators say Richardson sent two images of his genitals to a minor via Snapchat on Dec. 6, 2024. One of those images was sent when he was on duty, investigators say.
