Fort Dodge police nab burglary suspect

A man Fort Dodge police were seeking for burglary and other crimes has been apprehended.

According to court records, Davaris J. Shivers, 21, of Fort Dodge, was arrested and charged with:

• Violation of parole

• Second degree burglary

• Fourth degree criminal mischief

• Voluntary absence from custody

Police had asked for the public’s help in locating Shivers. He was arrested in an apartment at 106 N. 10th St.

The burglary and criminal mischief charges result from a Saturday incident in which police say Shivers forced his way into an occupied house.

According to criminal complaints filed against him, Shivers went to a house at 1007 S. 20th St. at 6 p.m. Saturday and tried to force open the front door. Then he used a cinder block to break through the back door, police wrote in the criminal complaints.

At the time of the incident, he was on parole for another offense.

Magistrate Stephen Kersten issued a no contact order prohibiting Shivers from communicating with the resident of the home.

The charge of violation of parole requires that Shivers be held without bond, so he remains in jail.
