Man arrested for solicitation attempt

A Fort Dodge man was arrested after soliciting a person he thought was a 13-year-old girl for sex, but who was actually a detective, according to court records.

Fort Dodge police arrested Joshua R. Galloway, 18, of 819 N. 14th St. on Tuesday and charged him with enticing a minor under 16 for sexual purpose and grooming, court records show,

According to the criminal complaints filed against Galloway, he communicated with the detective via SnapChat. He made plans to meet the detective at a park for sex, the complaints state.

Galloway made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Wednesday morning. His preliminary hearing was set for March 21. Magistrate Stephen Kersten set bond for him at $10,000 cash only.
