Woman charged in break-in, assault
A Fort Dodge woman who forced her way into a house and attacked two people there has been charged with multiple crimes, according to court records.
Those records show that Justina D. Sago, 22, was arrested by Fort Dodge police and charged with:
• First degree burglary
• Second degree criminal mischief
• Domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness, first offense
At about 4:20 a.m. Feb. 23, Sago broke into a house in the 200 block of Second Street Northwest and assaulted a man and a woman there, according to criminal complaints filed against her.
During the incident, she broke the doorknob assembly on an exterior door, two TVs, a phone and an interior wooden door, the complaints state.
She was arrested Wednesday and made her initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Thursday morning. She waived her right to a preliminary hearing, so her case will proceed to arraignment and trial.
Sago also made her initial appearance in court on an unrelated assault charge. In that case, she is accused of throwing a glass bottle at a person and hitting them in the face, according to criminal complaints. That incident happened at about 3 a.m. July 13, 2024, in the 1200 block of Fourth Avenue North.
Action on the assault case was postponed 180 days while the more serious charges against her are handled.
