Chase excelled in football and basketball while attending PAC. Chase later attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Chase’s true love though was summertime in Okoboji. Chase made friends with people from all over the US while spending the summers working and playing at the lake. Okoboji was the meeting place for his many family members including his grandparents, aunts, uncles cousins, and nieces.
Chase and his siblings, Casey and Nealey, were involved in the “University of Okoboji Water Ski Club.” From a young age, he was the top member of the skiing pyramid as they performed ski shows near the state pier. He loved to do tricks and barefoot for the spectators. Later he took up wakeboarding and inspired others to try it out. He taught lessons to young beginners and was known for high flying maneuvers and jumping anything on the lake.
Chase followed some dear friends to Lake Tahoe in the winters to work at the Village Ski Loft as a ski technician. For many years, he returned to Okoboji in the summers to work and play. He always said, “I share the two most beautiful lakes all year”. These past few years he remained in Lake Tahoe during the summer to sell, build, and repair bikes at the Ski Loft. He loved to ride with his friends and visitors to the area. He always found time to return to Okoboji and see family and friends.
Chase is survived by his father, Tom and Leann Powers of Pocahontas, his mother Peggy Noonan Powers and Dan Sanders of Okoboji; brother, Casey Powers and his wife Jenny Forsberg of Arnolds Park; sister Nealey Powers and her daughters, Madison and Alexie of West Des Moines; 2 step-brothers, Tyler Bruns and Zachary Bruns of Pocahontas; and his extended family and friends.
Chase was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Maxine Powers and Richard and Dorothy Noonan.
Chase was a kind and gentle soul who touched many people’s lives. He will be greatly missed by all, but never forgotten by any.
