DENNIS EHN
Dennis Ray Ehn, 68, of Pomeroy, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 to the sound of his family singing his favorite songs at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dennis was born in Fort Dodge on June 18, 1950 to Alvin and Lavera (Gruver) Ehn. Denny graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1968. On December 14, 1973, he married Marcia (Greufe) in Williams, Iowa. The couple lived and farmed on the family farm near Pomeroy for 17 years before moving to Pomeroy in 1991. Denny worked at Iowa Industrial Hydraulics in Pocahontas for 34 years until it’s closure in 2001 then worked for C & S Products in Fort Dodge until his retirement in 2013.
Denny was very active in the Pomeroy community, a member St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Pomeroy-Palmer School Board, and was currently serving his second term on the City Council.
He was exceedingly proud of his grandchildren and they returned his love, describing him as humorous, kindhearted, awesome, hardworking, selfless, dependable, joyful, helpful, active, content, opinionated, giver of the best hugs, excellent at checkers, and a good eater that loved us all the time.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia of Pomeroy, daughter, Rachel Sinclair of Ankeny, sons Robert and his wife, Lindsay (Stucky) Ehn of Fort Dodge, Matthew and his wife, Nikki (Schaa) Ehn of Webster City, and Alex Ehn of Ankeny; grandchildren Noah and Hayden Sinclair of Ankeny, Hallie, Dennis, Leo and Thomas Ehn of Fort Dodge, and Caroline, Henry and Lauren Ehn of Webster City; and brothers Jerry and his wife Elizabeth Ehn of Pocahontas and Ron Ehn of Denison. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A time of family gathering and prayer will be 10:00 am Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and the Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am at Corpus Christi Church in Fort Dodge with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Pomeroy. A visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Monday with a Vigil beginning at 7:00 pm at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Fort Dodge.
