WALTER “JACK” KNUTSON

WEBSTER CITY — Walter “Jack” Knutson, 84, of Webster City, died Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Van Diest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Masks are recommended when attending the visitation and funeral.

Walter John Knutson, son of Charles and Dorothy (Irvine) Knutson, was born June 4, 1937 in Fort Dodge. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1955 and enlisted in the 133rd Air National Guard where he retired after serving 20 years. In 1957, Jack was united in marriage to Janet Simpson in Fort Dodge. To this union four children were born. The couple later divorced. After 30 years of being together, Jack was united in marriage to Patty Powgnas Johnson in Webster City on August 12, 2014. Jack was the owner/operator of Knutson Refrigeration and Electric in Fort Dodge for many years, as well as Knutson Engineering in Webster City before his retirement in 2012. He also worked for Nissen’s, Beam Industries and Webster City Custom Meats.

He is survived by his wife, Patty of Webster City; children, Kraig (Susan) Knutson of Mesa, AZ, Karen (Mike) Beck of Urbandale, Keith (Lauren) Knutson of Gilbert, AZ, Karla (Brian) Anderson of Chandler, AZ; 25 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Tim (Roseann) Knutson of Campbellsville, KY; sisters-in-law, Cindy Knutson of Fort Dodge, Linda Rollins of Stevens Point, WI, Mary Pike of Plainfield, WI; brother-in-law, Allen Powgnas of Woolstock; aunt, Ermma Williamson of Fort Dodge, along with many extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Knutson, and brother-in-law, Todd Pike.
