Richard Lee Lind was born January 26, 1940, in Dayton, IA. He attended schools in Dayton and moved with his family to Des Moines after his father’s passing. He graduated from Des Moines and returned to Fort Dodge. On November 26, 1959, he was united to Betty Messerly at the Methodist church in Duncombe. Richard worked for National Gypsum and was the man credited with locating the piece of gypsum large enough for the Cardiff Giant carving that can be found at the Fort Museum. He was awarded $200.00 for his hard work. Richard loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren of whom he was extremely proud. He loved cars and painting. His favorite color was red and let it be known if it stood still, it was getting a coat of red paint! Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorials may be left to family discretion. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family.
