BRUCE A. LEWIS

Bruce A. Lewis, 73, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, December 2, 2022, at his home.

A service honoring Bruce’s life will be 1:00 p.m. Wednes-day, December 7, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel, with Deacon Joe Coleman officiating. Military honors will be provided by V.F.W. Post No. 1856 and the United States Air Force Honor Guard. The visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Bruce is survived by his children, Sam (Tara Lowe) Brown, Huntingdon, England; Denise (Jeff Kelly) Lewis, Spencer, Iowa; Jason Lewis, Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Sami Brown, Libby Brown and George Brown, all of England; Brettany (Brad) Riggs, Spencer; great grandchildren, Ayden, Zoey, Damien and Gabriel, all of Spencer; and his siblings, Diana (Jim) Hunter, Eileen (Dan) Dodgen, Joe (Ardis) Lewis, John (Deb) Lewis, Rick Lewis, Kathy (Leon) Streit; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret and his parents.

Bruce Anthony Lewis, the son of Dale and Margaret (Buscherfeld) Lewis, was born February 25, 1949, in Fort Dodge. He graduated from St. Edmond High School in 1969, and entered into the United State Air Force, in which he proudly served until retiring as a Tech Sergeant following 22 years of service. Working in transportation, he was honored to provide assistance to Air Force One and to personally meet Presidents Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush. He also trained with British SAS and spent many years stationed in England, where he met his future wife, Margaret. On May 27, 1972, Bruce was united in marriage to Margaret Gow in England. His military service brought him to Texas, back to England and then to Illinois from where he was discharged. He and Margaret traveled the world before settling down in Fort Dodge. Bruce drove a truck for a while, was employed with Iowa Glass and also White Transfer and Storage.

Bruce was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed all sorts of racing, including Nascar, NHRA and dirt tracks. He enjoyed target shooting, was an avid marksman and fisherman. Bruce especially treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandbabies.
