Howard LeRoy Sheeley, the son of Howard and Rowena (Williams) Sheeley, was born December 24, 1939, in Pocahontas. He attended and graduated from the Iowa School for the Blind in Vinton and moved to Fort Dodge in 1962. He was united in marriage to Patricia Kopps on October 25, 1964, at St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City. He worked for Hudson Roofing Company for many years. Later he worked in the laundry department at Trinity Regional Medical Center, retiring in 2006. Patricia preceded him in death in 2008. Howard always wanted to stay busy and would never let anyone tell him he couldn’t do something. He was the person to call when you needed help. He was always there for his family and while a quiet man, people listened to him closely when he spoke.
Howard was an active member of First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed watching his Hawkeyes, Vikings, football and professional wrestling. He could be seen at the Senior Center, walking the mall or people watching at Walmart. He treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
