DOROTHY TURNQUIST

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Church in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the CHURCH. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy was born on June 23, 1930, to Raymond Sr. and Agnes (Jondle) Sheker in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She attended school in Fort Dodge, graduating in 1948.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Lyle M. Turnquist on April 5, 1965, in Jackson, Minnesota. Dorothy and Lyle enjoyed a lifetime of farming together. After Lyle passed away, Dorothy continued living on the farm.

Dorothy loved playing cards, Bingo, going to casinos, bowling, and spending time with friends and family. Dorothy loved company and always had a joke or witty saying to catch you off guard. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew her.

Dorothy is survived by her niece, Barbara Smart of Branson, Missouri; nephew: Randy (Cindi) Sheker of Otho, Iowa; niece: Sharon Unruh of Painesville, Ohio; great niece: Cathy (Doug) Lange of Newell, Iowa; great nephews: Barry Jr. (Charlotte) Copp of Newell, Iowa; Chad (Heather) Copp of Newell, Iowa; and many other loving friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lyle Turnquist in 2003; parents: Raymond and Agnes Sheker; brother: Raymond “Bud” Sheker Jr.; sister: Doris Rykhus; and niece: Cheryl Copp.
