ROBERT F. SIMPSON

Robert F. Simpson, 84, of Badger, Iowa, passed away on March 30, 2023, at Southfield Wellness Center in Webster City with family members by his side.

Bob was born on November 17, 1938, in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Robert S. Simpson and Ernila Simpson-Sheker. Bob grew up and lived in the Clare-Fort Dodge area until he proudly joined the US Army in 1961. He served his country and was honorably discharged in 1963. After leaving the Army, Bob returned to Fort Dodge where he met and married Julie K Arnold. Together, they had five wonderful children. As a family man, he lived in Iowa until 1986 when they moved to Las Cruces, NM and then to Ada, OK until his retirement. Bob and Julie moved to Santa Teresa, NM where they lived until Julie passed away in 2010. Bob returned to Fort Dodge in 2011 where he married his second wife, Jannik Bacon. Bob continued to live in Iowa until his death.

Bob, sometimes known as Sonny, had a passion for cars. He loved to go to the stock car races, car shows and sometimes raced his own car. In his spare time, you could always find Bob in the garage working on one of his Oldsmobiles, occasionally he would take it out for a cruise. Bob’s other love was to paint on feathers and he produced incredible feather paintings. Family members have many cherished feather paintings that Bob created. In his younger years, he loved to make home videos of his family and wildlife, squirrels primarily. His creative skills were outstanding whether it be automotive, painting, or cooking; he had quite an eye for detail in everything he did. Bob’s incredible love for humor would keep everyone smiling and in stitches as he loved to laugh and tell many jokes. He was the primary care giver for his wife Julie until her death in 2010. Bob loved his grandchildren and always enjoyed going to their sporting, music or other academic events. Bob’s love of life was tremendous, and he touched many lives in his 84 years with us.
