WILLIAM “BILL” GRANGER
William “Bill” Granger, 89, of Fort Dodge, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, at Friendship Haven.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 22nd at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the church. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family.
William is survived by his wife Virginia “Ginny”; son Dr. William Granger (Deb) of Rockford, MI; daughters, Sandra (Clark) Fletcher of Fort Dodge, Laura Granger of Maple Grove, MN; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Deb Granger of LaGrange, IL.
William is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Caroline (Christensen) Granger, brothers Robert and James Granger, and sister-in-law Etta Granger.
William Charles Granger was born June 21, 1933, in Morris, IL. He was raised and educated in Morris, graduating from Morris High School. On September 12, 1953, he was united in marriage to Virginia Barrows at Trinity Lutheran Church in DeKalb, IL. The couple established their home in DeKalb and William graduated from Northern Illinois State Teachers College. The couple then moved to St. Paul, MN, where he attended and graduated from Luther Theological Seminary. From 1962 to 1980, William served as the pastor of the Lutheran Churches in Melvin, IL, Roberts, IL, Rockford, IA and Marble Rock, IA. In 1980, he became the pastor of the First Lutheran Church in Clarion. In 1996, William retired, and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge.
He was the District President for the Western Iowa Lutheran Church Conference.
