EUGENE J. “GENE” KUTZ

TWIN LAKES — Eugene J. “Gene” Kutz, 89, of Twin Lakes, died Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. The visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, at Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home in Manson, followed by a Rosary and a Vigil service.

Eugene is survived by his children, Tim (Kathy) Kutz, Clearfield, UT; Terry (Roberta) Kutz, Glide, OR; Kevin (Leigh Ann) Kutz, Norwalk; Brenda Messerly, Rockwell City; Keith (Teresa) Kutz, Fort Dodge; 15 grandchildren, 37 great- grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law Adrian McColley; sister-in-law Virgie (John) Fey; sister-in-law Pat Blunt; along with many nieces and nephews who considered him to be “Everyone’s favorite Uncle Gene.” He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, siblings, John Kutz, Lorraine McColley, Deloris Donnelly, infant brother Donald Kutz, and daughter-in-law Joan Dorrell Kutz.

Eugene Joseph Kutz, the son of John and Anna (Brockling) Kutz, was born September 28, 1934, in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1953. On November 3, 1956, Eugene was united in marriage to Barbara Blunt, at Blue Earth, MN. Eugene worked at Gus Glaser Meats as plant superintendent until 1969. From 1969 to 1998, he worked for Dubois Chemical Company as a district manager and sales representative, until his retirement.

Eugene was a 71-year member of the Knights of Columbus and served both the Fort Dodge and Manson Councils. He was a year-round resident of Twin Lakes and enjoyed teaching family and friends how to waterski. He managed the Bingo games at Sacred Heart Church and was always active in his church. Eugene was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He served on the Board of Directors for Golden Meadows in Manson for many years and enjoyed playing cards and bowling.
