PATRICIA ANN HILL

Patricia Ann Hill, 81, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the Simp­son Health Center at Friendship Haven. Fun­eral ser­vices will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2023, at the Fulton Lutheran Church, Roelyn, IA, with burial following at the Fulton Lutheran Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Patricia was born in Fort Dodge on February 5, 1942, to Oliver and Nellie (Ness) Sorenson. She grew up in the Somers, IA, area where she attended school at Cedar Valley High School graduating in 1960. She then went on to St. Olaf Lutheran College and then Drake University where she graduated with a master’s degree in education. Patricia was united in marriage to Douglas Hill on August 10, 1968, at the Fulton Lutheran Church. Patty was a school teacher for the Prairie Valley School District for 44 years until her retirement in 2008. Patty was a lifelong member of Fulton Lutheran Church where she also served as the church organist. She and Doug were founding members of the Choral Society and member of Comedia Musica Players. She was also a member of Tri-T, PEO, Study Club and on the Trinity Regional Auxiliary Board. She also was a volunteer for Trinity Regional Medical Center. Patty enjoyed baking, shopping, antiquing, traveling the world, going to Iowa State Games, and spending time at her cabin in Twin Lakes, IA.

Patty is survived by her daughter Sara Hill of Fort Dodge, and Michael (Laura) Hill of Arlington, VA; grandchildren Helena and Hansel. She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas and her parents Oliver and Nellie.

Memorials may be left to the Choral Society or The Lord’s Cupboard.
