Judy Ewing-Huegel
Judy Ewing-Huegel, 82, of Fort Dodge, died January 6, 2024, at Trinity Regional Medical Center. A private Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with the arrangements.
Judy Luke, daughter of Lyle and Geraldine (Lamer) Luke, was born December 4, 1941. She graduated from Moorland High School. Judy married Don Ewing and to this union 4 children were born. The couple later divorced. Judy was employed in the office of McClure Engineering and later became the director of the Foster Grandparent program in Des Moines and later Fort Dodge. Judy married Joseph “Red” Huegel, the love of her life, in 1985.
Judy cherished her family and supported her grandchildren in all their events. Trips to the casino with her sister Joyce were a favorite pastime.
Survivors include her daughters, Wendy (Shad) Moore, Donette (Mitch) Halverson, Jodi (Don) Arends; her step-children, Sheri Lund, Tony (Deb) Huegel, and Jeff (Lucy) Huegel; her grandchildren, Shawna Schmidt, Justin Brayton, Amy Peterson, Megan Martin, Ryan Halverson, Allie Slinker, Nate Halverson, Monty Arends, and Kelsey Halverson, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; her sisters, Joan (Les) Allen and Joyce Taylor. She was preceded in death by her infant son Monty Guy Ewing, her parents, her husband Joseph “Red” Huegel, and her sisters Janet Krantz and Jean Cartee.
