Betty Dyvig

Betty A. Dyvig, 98, of Humboldt, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the Rotary Senior Living nursing home in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She is now very alive with her loving Savior Jesus Christ. A private family service will be held at a later date.

She is survived by her children, Dennis (Susan) Dyvig of Nairobi Kenya, Wayne (Renee) Dyvig and Ed (Sara) Dyvig of Humboldt; grandchildren, Jodie, Jeremy, Joshua, Hannah, and Jonah; 9 great-grandchildren; brother James (Marilyn) Fevold; sisters-in-law Ardis Sansgaard and Mary Fevold; and many dear nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Merlin; parents Bertin and Florence (Saboe) Fevold; brothers Lowell, Ardell, Robert, Rolland and David Fevold; and sisters Charlene (Bert Cran, Emmett Wiegert) and Mary (Kenny) Barrett.

Betty Fevold was born on January 18, 1926, in a farmhouse near Badger, Iowa. She graduated from Gilmore City High School and attended AIB College of Business. She was employed by the First National Bank in Humboldt, then met the love of her life and married Merlin Dyvig in 1947. She became a lifelong homemaker raising 3 sons on a farm southwest of Humboldt. Betty was a devoted wife and mother, always happy and supportive. She enjoyed the birds and flowers on her farm and would often call her sons to remind them of the wonder of God’s creation as indicated by a beautiful sunrise, rainfall, rainbow, or snowstorm. Betty also enjoyed whatever Merlin was doing, whether it involved the farm, WW2 history or flying in the Champ. She loved her Norwegian heritage and her large “Fevold Clan,” spending time with her sisters and brothers and families which often involved gatherings of more than 40 people. Betty was blessed with a long and wonderful life and she will be greatly missed by family and friends.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of both the Memory and the Long-Term care centers of Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove. They provided loving and amazing care for our mother.
