Duane Amhof
Duane Alan Amhof, 63, of Fort Dodge, IA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 12th, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals, where he was surrounded by his loving family at the end of his long health battle.
Born on September 3rd, 1961, in Davenport, IA, to Ronald and Bonnie Amhof, he graduated as a Lancer from North Scott High School in 1979, having played football, baseball, wrestled, and participated in school music and musicals. He then graduated from Luther College in 1983, in Business Management Marketing. Despite his best efforts, he never convinced any of his five children to attend his collegiate alma mater where he loved every second being in Decorah, IA.
Duane was united in marriage to Roxanne Dencklau on September 2nd, 1989, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in West Des Moines, IA. Duane was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend known for his wit, wise words, and calming presence. He was a well-known man of faith, a family man, who loved the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes, fishing, biking, grilling, participating in musicals, and connecting and building relationships with everyone he met. Duane always felt a sense of peace, even during his darkest hours battling his health troubles. Every healthcare worker, family member, or friend that walked into his hospital room left knowing about God and what He has done for him. He spent many years working for various banks throughout Iowa and loved his job, as it allowed him to work and network with people. He held positions at Norwest Bank, Firstar Bank, First American Bank, Kingsgate Health Insurance, Wells Fargo Bank, and Lincoln Savings Bank. He was also very involved in the community, participating on many boards and especially loved working with the United Way. Duane was a member of First Presbyterian Church and held various positions including Session and Foundation. He enjoyed singing the baritone part when his family sang together for church, with church choir, Sentimental Swing band, and with Sonshine Singers.
Duane is survived by his wife Roxanne, children Rachel (Sean), Jacob, Sarah, Hannah, and Aaron, soon to be first grandchild Violet, parents Ronald and Bonnie, brothers David and Douglas, along with many nieces and nephews.
