Patricia Ann Zabel was born on September 12, 1956, to Lorenz and Beverly Zabel in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Marked by her dedication and skill, Patty began her professional career as a seamstress at Charles A. Brown and made award-winning Halloween costumes for her sons Chris and Jeff. She moved to Urbandale in 1988 and worked at Hy-Vee, where she retired from after many years of service. Patty always lent a helping hand to those in need. She loved traveling and going on cruises. She loved visiting Hawaii and Nevada, spending time with Denny, her husband, and friends. But most of all, Patty loved spending time with her treasured grandson, Lewis, and don’t forget her cat, “55,” named because it cost her $55 to rescue him.

Patty is survived by her husband of almost 25 years, Dennis Norton; children, Chris Larson, Jeff (Kumiko) Larson; stepchildren, Lisa (Mike) Meehan, Michael Norton; grandchildren, Lewis and Max; brother, Mike (Barb) Zabel; previous husband, Doug Larson. She is preceded in death by her parents Lorenz Zabel, Beverly Sawyer; Herbert Theilmann; brother, Doug Zabel; and grandson, Jack Meehan.
