Bonny Hammer
Bonny Hammer, 94, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge. A time of gathering for family and friends will be from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. A celebration of her life will follow at 10:30 AM on Thursday, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel.
Bonny Ann Booge, the daughter of Albert and Anna (Kutz) Booge, was born April 22, 1930, in Pocahontas County, Iowa. Bonny graduated from Palmer High School and later from beauty college. On November 15, 1948, Bonny was united in marriage to Darwin Hammer in Palmer. After their marriage the couple made Fort Dodge their home.
Bonny was an instructor at Bernel Beauty School in Fort Dodge and later at La' James Beauty College. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Catholic Daughters of America, and the Elks Club.
Bonny enjoyed entertaining, teaching her cosmetology students and taking walks.
Bonny is survived by three children, Barb Brown of Fort Dodge, Lee Hammer of Ankeny, and Jan Green of Indianola; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a brother Bill Booge. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darwin in 1998, a daughter Marcia Borer, and four of her siblings, Rozella Hartman, Joanne Kramer, Marge Lampe, and Alan Booge.
