Deborah Markert

Deb (Peterson) Markert formerly of Manson, IA passed away on January 1, 2025, at the age of 59, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Fort Jackson, South Carolina on March 20, 1965, to Pete and Brenda Peterson. Deb was the oldest of four, sister to Natalie, Chris, and Aaron. Deb married Doug Markert in 1988 and had three children Reghan (Patrick) Deck of Des Moines, Sydney and Cameron of Polk City.

Deb was a long-time teacher and administrator in the Des Moines Public Schools.

Deb is preceded in death by her father Pete Peterson and her brother Chris Peterson.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church (510 E. 1st St, Ankeny, IA). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, also at the church.
