Carl Crouse

Carol A. Crouse, 83, of Fort Dodge, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Fort Dodge Health and Rehab, surrounded by love.

A celebration of Carol's life will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with burial to follow at Holaday Creek Cemetery near Coalville. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Carol's love and kindness live on through her five children – Scott (Jackie) Phelps of Holstein, IA, Brenda (Al) Holloway of Phoenix, AZ, Kristin (Todd) Phelps of Ames, IA, Troy (Julie) Crouse of Lakeville, MN, and Justin (Ronelle) Crouse of Ft Dodge, IA – along with her stepchildren, Teresa Crouse, Julie (Kenny) Zinnel, Bobbie (Marshall) Mack, and Rick (Diane) Crouse, all of Ft. Dodge, IA. She was a devoted grandmother to 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Keith Crandall of Omaha, NE.

She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, LeRoy and Mildred (Detman) Crandall, her beloved husband Richard (who passed in 2012), her grandson Marshall Mack, and her sister Patricia McCarty.

Carol was born on January 31,1942, in Storm Lake, IA, and then raised in Knoke. She graduated from Pomeroy schools in 1960 and married Richard “Dick” Crouse on May 26, 1967. Together, they built a life in Fort Dodge, filled with love, family, and hard work. Carol held various jobs throughout her life, and in 1991, she pursued her passion for helping others by attending Iowa Central Community College's Nursing Program, leading to a career in mental health services at Webster County Home and Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Beyond her work, Carol embraced life and her community involvement. She was a dedicated member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Ruth Circle, Izaak Walton League and the Fort Dodge Quilters Club.
