Denise Passow

Denise Marie Passow, the daughter of Dale and Bonnie (Lewis) Passow was born January 10, 1954, in Fort Dodge Iowa. Denise attended school in Fort Dodge then returned to Gilmore City to graduate and marry Frank Lyon Sr. on December 29, 1972 which was later dissolved.

Denise dedicated many years to creating a home for her children until she found a love for running the kitchen at the Palmer House and Last Chance Saloon before settling into her many years of managing then owning Community Pizza here in Fort Dodge. Denise took great pride in co-owning Community Pizza/Tap, Truman Hart held a special place in her heart, he trusted her as manager for many years before selling the family pizza business portion to Denise. In retirement she returned her share of the business to his family just as he wished it to be. The joy of running the business and all the friends she made along the way forever made her happy and proud.

In retirement Denise enjoyed many things, she committed her time to her children, grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, especially around the pool; she always had chicken and lots of food ready to enjoy. Denise loved to sew, garden and cook. She always proudly attended her grandchildren’s events and selflessly cared for her mother until the day she physically could not.

Finding herself at Prairie Lakes here in Fort Dodge was a blessing and joy that completed Denise. Her baptism was the most beautiful day along with the bond she created with her prayer group that gave her so much strength and peace, especially in her health battles.

Denise is survived by her children, Tammy (Matt) Alstott, Christopher Lyon of Indianola, Jessica Lyon, Frank (Amanda) Lyon; grandchildren, Austin (Katie Degner) Anderson, Hailey (Jamiir Moore) Anderson, Hope Alstott, Alex (Maddie Meyer) Alstott, Cainen (Bre) Hiracheta, Alexis Hiracheta, Tommy Lennon, Ethan Lyon, Tessa Lyon, Trystin Lyon, Frank Lyon Jr., and Hoyt Lyon; great-grandchildren, Onyx Moore and Lennox Hiracheta, all of Fort Dodge; Mother, Bonnie Passow of Fort Dodge; brothers, Jay of Fair Oaks, CA, Joe (Linda) of Duncombe, and Dale (Melinda) of Elkland, MO; sisters, Marianne Roberts of Omaha, NE, Debbie Papouchis of Mason City, and Sherry Dencklau of Vincent; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Denise was preceded in death by her father, Dale F. Passow; siblings; Paul H. Passow, Mark J. Passow, Robert J. Passow, Cynthia D. Hiller; Brother-in-law, Ronnie Dencklau; niece, Stacey Passow; and nephew, Donald D. Hiller.
