Dean D. Henderson
Dean D. Henderson passed away March 17, 2025, at Friendship Haven, Journey’s neighborhood in Fort Dodge. His wish was to be cremated, burial will be a private ceremony with a Celebration of Life to be held April 12, 2025, at the Friendship Haven Celebration Center from 2:00pm – 4:00pm.
Born to Francis and Hazel (Davis) Henderson July 21, 1930, in Lehigh, Iowa. He graduated from Lehigh High School, May 1948 and graduated from Fort Dodge Junior College in June 1958.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1948 – 1952, the Air Force Reserve from 1952-1965, the Air National Guard from 1965-1975, the Army National Guard from 1975-1981 and the Army Reserve from 1981-1990. He retired as Sergeant 1st Class E7.
In December 1962 Dean married Sharon A Wolf. They had 2 children Corinna and Chris.
After retiring from Hormel and Co., Dean traveled the United States on his Honda Gold Wing, parts of Europe, South America and Australia. He was a life long gun enthusiast, shot pistol competitively and a long-time member of the NRA. He loved to walk, no matter what the weather.
Dean is survived by children Corinna (Kevin) McCartney of Fort Dodge, Chris Henderson of Fort Dodge, granddaughters KaraLee (Alex) Colon of Humboldt, MarliAnn (Todd) Carlson of Rural Duncombe; 5 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his wife Sharon (March 2023), parents Francis and Hazel Henderson, siblings Dorthy, Gladys, Jerry, Francis (Junior) and Jean.
