Kay “Rick” Ricklefs
Kay “Rick” Ricklefs was born January 19th, 1939, and passed away March 27th, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 86. Rick was the son of Zola and Edward Ricklefs, raised in the Manson, Iowa area, and lived the majority of his life in Richards, Iowa before moving to Converse, Texas. Rick married Rosella “Rosie” Kavanaugh and together were blessed with two sons, Marty and Keith. Rick and his Mother, Zola, raised the boys on the acreage where they were instilled with the love of rural farm life. Rick met his life partner, Maxine Johnson, and together they shared many interests, which included going to the casino. Rick had the joy of sharing his life with Max’s daughters Rhonda (Keith) Foster of San Antonio, Texas and Missy (Pete) Reed of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Rick had many callings in his life including working at the elevator in Richards, having a junkyard, collecting coins, slot machines with Max, being outdoors, animals, and also serving in the Air National Guard. Rick was proud to serve his County.
Rick is survived by many family members and friends: Life partner, Max Johnson, his son, Keith Ricklefs (Jodi) and their sons. Rhonda (Keith) Foster, Missy (Skip) Reed and cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Zola, and beloved son Marty. While there will be no services, the family invites you to share memories of Rick with them and share a toast to his life.
