Louise Arndt

Louise E. Arndt, age 96, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, formerly of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at Sauk Centre United Methodist Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Amanda Hodge officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Louise Elizabeth Polman was born March 15, 1928, in New London, Minnesota, to Victor and Esther (Smith) Polman. She graduated from New London High School and furthered her education by graduating from St. Cloud State University with a teaching degree. She was united in marriage to William P. Arndt, Jr. on June 24, 1959, in Waite Park, Minnesota. Louise taught grade school in Clara City, Milaca, Brainerd, Bloomington, and Melrose. She mostly taught third through fifth grades, and later Title One reading.

She lived many years in Sauk Centre and was a member of Sauk Centre United Methodist Church. Louise was a member of United Methodist Women’s Circle where she was secretary and historian. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working cross word puzzles. Louise enjoyed crafts and made many scrapbooks and photo albums. She enjoyed the outdoors where she would help her husband in the garden, liked fishing and swimming, and also crocheted and knitted many afghans.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl (Jeffrey) Trunnell of Fort Dodge, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jacob (Laura) Trunnell, Will Trunnell, and Erin (Tim) Douglass; one great-grandson, Boaz Trunnell; and many nieces and nephews.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Arndt, Jr. on July 19, 2007; parents; and sisters, Betty Payne and JoAnn Graap.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sauk Centre United Methodist Church or UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief, worldwide mission relief).
