Dorothy Madsen

Dorothy “Dody” Madsen (Heim), aged 96, passed away on February 27, 2025, in Edmond, OK. Born on December 6, 1928, in Dubuque, IA, she lived a long and fulfilling life. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a sister Viviene Giegerich and husband Leo and sister Virginia Heim. Surviving is her son Fred Madsen and wife Nealy, Savannah, GA daughter Mary Madsen, Edmond, OK and her son James Madsen and wife Terri, Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren, Alex Madsen and wife Emily, Cory O’Keefe and husband Sean, Willa Madsen, and Tess Madsen.

Dody retired after 28 years from the Fort Dodge Laboratories.

Dody never met a coupon she wouldn't use, a yard sale she couldn't pass up, nor a pair of shoes she wouldn't try on.

But by far her most endearing quality was her lust for life. Her style of dressing could best be described as “fun & lively”, from her orange rimmed glasses down to the sequined shoes she wore. She made every gathering better just by being there, bringing her infectious laugh and making everyone feel a little happier having spent time with her. The world was a better place for having 96 years of Dody in it.

A graveside service will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque, IA, on May 10, 2025, at 11:00 am. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor her memory.
