Gerald Dencklau

A service honoring Gerald’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Colfax Township Cemetery. Visitation is 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Gunderson’s.

Gerald is survived by his children, Jeannie Babb, Gerald Wayne (Maria) Dencklau, Kevin Dencklau, Rodney “Rod” (Marcia) Dencklau, and Patrick “Pat” Dencklau; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Merry Jo, three brothers, Dennis, Francis, Leo, and a sister Luella.

Gerald Oscar Dencklau, the son of Edmund and Elfrieda (Knigge) Dencklau, was born May 3, 1933, in Webster County. Gerald attended Colfax Country School #3 and was a lifelong resident of Webster County. On May 10, 1958, Gerald was united in marriage to Merry Jo Crotts at Blue Earth, Minnesota. He farmed and also worked in construction as a brick tender before retiring in 1999.

Gerald was a member of the Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge, and he enjoyed playing cards. He won a ‘Best Crop Bushel per Acre’ award in 1997. Gerald especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren.
