Insurrection 2.0

To the editor:

Just as in 2016 and 2020, Donald Trump is telling his supporters that the only way he can lose the election is if it is rigged. In 2016, Trump lost the election by more than 3 million votes, but won the presidency through the archaic Electoral College. In 2020, Trump lost the election by over 7 million votes and also lost in the Electoral College.

As we know to this day, Trump has denied he lost the election even though there has never been a shred of evidence to the contrary. His actions on Jan. 6, 2021, lead to one of the darkest days in our country’s history.

I have an email from our Sen. Grassley that said although he thought Trump was guilty of causing an insurrection, he couldn’t vote to impeach him because he didn’t think it was legal to impeach a president after they had left office. Something, by the way, his fellow senators had already decided that it was.

Recently Trump has been ranting and raving about the sizes of Vice President Harris’ rallies. He posted that Harris is cheating on the size of her crowds using artificial intelligence and if she would cheat on that she would cheat in the election.

A lot of my friends and myself included think he is suffering mentally, but Sen. Bernie Sanders might have hit the nail on the head when he said “Trump might be crazy, but he is not stupid. If he can convince his followers that Harris is cheating reporting the crowd sizes at her rallies, then she will cheat in the election.”

At one of his rallies in Georgia, Trump praised and called out by name three members of the Georgia election board. Three days later, the board voted 3 to 2 to allow pro-Trump election officials in Georgia’s 159 counties to arbitrarily refuse to certify election results that are crucial to determining which candidate wins Georgia, a state where Republicans control the legislature and now the election board in the form of a MAGA majority, as reported by Rolling Stone magazine.

Georgia isn’t the only state where this is happening, Republican states across the country, including Iowa, have passed laws making it harder to vote. At a rally in Florida, Trump told his supporters that if they elected him, he would fix it so they never have to vote again. It sounds like the wheels are already in motion! Help save our country and our democracy by voting for Vice President Harris!
