To the editor:

Why would a Republican Wright County supervisor write a letter to the editor supporting a Democratic Webster County supervisor? It is a straightforward answer. When it comes down to the county level it is all about the person, not the party.

I have worked with Mark over the past 10 years at the Iowa State Association of Counties, where Mark holds a leadership role and on various boards and committees in which our counties have joint interests.

Mark has repeatedly shown that he has a proven knowledge in every aspect of county government. He frequently comes to the table with new fresh and creative ideas., but he also listens to the ideas and viewpoints of other board members.

He has a gift for negotiating and bringing people together. Webster County citizens are very fortunate to have Mark as their dedicated supervisor, who works tirelessly for them.

Mark’s re-election is paramount for Webster County. I hope everyone does their research and understands the significance of this local election. If you usually vote straight-line Republican, Mark needs to be the first Democrat you vote for.

Do not put the party over the person because Mark is the person you need.
