The United States stands with Israel
On Friday, Oct. 6, the world watched in horror as Hamas terrorists launched an all-out assault on Israel. Terrorists parachuted into a music festival killing hundreds of innocent people, broke into homes murdering entire families, and in one of the most gruesome displays of evil, murdered innocent babies. The details are sickening, but we cannot turn a blind eye to the atrocities that Hamas has committed and continues to inflict on the innocent people of Israel. The truth must be widely known.
To date, Hamas terrorists have killed at least 27 Americans and over 1,300 Israeli citizens. Tragically, these figures are expected to rise. During Israel’s darkest hour, the United States will support our closest friend and ally in the Middle East as they defend their homeland, protect their families, and safeguard their communities.
Since Hamas’ unprovoked attack on Israel, I have co-sponsored several resolutions and pieces of legislation that reaffirm the United States’ unwavering support of Israel and our strongest condemnation of Hamas and their barbaric actions.
Alongside nearly every member of the House of Representatives, I signed onto a congressional resolution — led by Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Michael McCaul — proclaiming our ironclad commitment to Israel and denouncing the despicable acts of Hamas.
I also backed legislation — introduced by my friend from Texas, Rep. August Pfluger — to urge President Biden to immediately freeze the $6 billion in funds that he authorized for Iran. Iran has repeatedly financed terrorism across the globe and undoubtedly helped fund the barbaric attacks against Israel at the hands of Hamas. Their support of Hamas is heinous, and that’s why we must never allow another dollar to be sent to Iran. The United States must never tolerate regimes that fund terrorism.
Additionally, I strongly condemned the protests in Des Moines by the Party of Socialism & Liberation, Democratic Socialists of America, and other sorry organizations calling for an end to American aid to Israel. Anyone who celebrates or supports Hamas and calls to end American aid to Israel is a deeply troubled individual. Those of us who support Israel must make our voices heard loud and clear.
Hamas has committed unthinkable atrocities against innocent Israeli citizens, entire families, the elderly, and children. These despicable terrorists have no regard for human life and must be completely defeated. As a father of four, a Christian, and an unyielding advocate for Israel, I continue to pray for the families who have lost loved ones, the brave Israeli military, and peace in the region.
