Davenport Assumption turned a trip to its home away from home into another successful quarterfinal round performance on Tuesday afternoon.

The Knights used a four-run fourth inning to surge past Estherville-Lincoln Central, then held off a late charge to prevail by a 6-5 final on Iowa Central Field.

Fourth-seeded Assumption (26-12 overall), making its record-tying ninth consecutive appearance at Rogers Park, did just enough to survive and advance. Senior ace Molly Rowe struck out 10 and closed the door on E-LC (31-7) as a late comeback attempt fell just short.

Leadoff hitter Sophia Caudle went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases for the Knights. Charlotte Nigey drove in a pair, and Marissa Boynton was 2-for-4.

Jasey Anderson tripled and homered for E-LC, which is also no stranger to state. The Midgets were making their third appearance in Fort Dodge since 2021, and their entire lineup was back from a year ago.

Anderson’s long ball was her eighth of the season.

Assumption, which has four state titles during this recent stretch, will now be making its ninth consecutive appearance in the semifinal round. The Knights, who haven’t finished worse than third during that entire period of time, will take on top-seeded Benton (32-7) on Wednesday in a Class 3A semifinal at 4:45 p.m. on Channel Seeds Field.

E-LC meets Solon at 10 a.m. on Yankee Field Wednesday in a consolation clash.
