Graves becomes Jags’ scoring leader

CARROLL — Aaron Graves added another accolade to his storied high school career at Southeast Valley.

The future Iowa Hawkeye defensive lineman became the school’s all-time leading scorer on Monday night as the Jaguars knocked off Greene County 65-57 in a Class 2A regional opener.

Graves led the Jaguars with 30 points in the victory. The University of Iowa football recruit now has 1,323 points, passing former school leader Conner Conrad (1,318).

Earlier in the season when Graves passed the 1,000-point plateau he was unaware of the feat.

“I actually did know about this one,” Graves laughed. “I am definitely blessed to be able to achieve a goal like this. All glory to God.”

Now Southeast Valley (12-10 overall) will face Roland-Story (19-2) on Thursday at Story City. Action will begin at 7 p.m.

“I think for us to move on we all have to keep playing at a high level for each other,” Graves said.

Kolson Kruse had 21 points and Tre Fisher checked in with 13. Kruse is third on the all-time scoring list with 1,219.

Starting at $2.99/week.
