Dodger girls ousted
SIOUX CITY — The Fort Dodge girls tennis team suffered a 5-1 loss to Sioux City East here Friday in a Class 2A team regional dual.
Manuela Rodriguez earned the lone win, claiming a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 singles spot.
“We had some chances,” FDSH head coach Julie Astor said. “I thought Claire Thompson played a very strong match. She won her first set and lost in a super-tiebreaker but showed so much growth this season.”
Sydney Gebers was the lone senior on the Dodger roster.
“We will miss Sydney,” Astor said. “She brought so much leadership and energy to the team all the time.”
