FD Middle School boys fare well at Mason City
MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge Middle School boys track squads were in action here on Monday night.
The eighth graders were second in the team standings. Luke Beckley swept the sprint events, taking the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dash titles. Avery Bryhne was the gold medalist in the 800, as was Joseph Petersen in the 1600.
Reggie Pederson won the 100-meter hurdles, and the 4×800-meter relay quartet of Spencer Smith, Myles Summers, Petersen and Bryhne did the same.
Pederson was a silver medalist in the 200 hurdles and the long jump. Smith (800) and Petersen (high jump) were runner-ups.
Amari McCaleb (high jump) and the distance medley relay (Josh Townsend, McCaleb, Summers and Pederson) were third.
On the seventh-grade side, FDMS was third. Jones Hensley was a gold medalist in the 1600-meter run for the Dodgers. The 4×100-meter relay team of Jaysawn Jackson, Riley Klein, Mason Hughes and Braxton Phillips also crossed first.
Runner-ups were Piersun Black (high jump), Blake Bartlett (shot put), Edgar Juarez (1600), Thomas Smith (100 hurdles), Riley Klein (100), the 4×200 relay (Hayden Porter, Hughes, Jackson, Phillips) and the 4×800 relay (Lian Kraft, Phillips, Juarez and Hensley).
Porter earned bronze in the 200, as did Klein in the 200 hurdles. The distance medley relay quartet of Carlos Guzman, Thomas Smith, Eli Powers and Hensley also grabbed third, as did the shuttle hurdle relay (Jon Lockner, Guzman, Kraft and Smith).
