GOWRIE — Kaili Henning continues to add chapters to her pitching story.

The St. Edmond senior pitcher threw a no-hitter as the Gaels (2-0 overall) handed Southeast Valley (4-1) its first loss of the season, 12-0 in six innings here on Wednesday.

Henning fanned 10 Jaguar batters and walked zero. She was one error away from a perfect game.

“She was on,” said St. Edmond head coach Bill Shirbroun. “Every pitch was around and in the zone.

“Everything was clicking.”

The Gaels pounced early, scoring five runs in the second. They tacked on six runs to end it early in the sixth on eight hits — highlighted by another home run from junior Mariah Myers.

“Scoring runs early helped take pressure off of Kaili,” Shirbroun said. “We were hitting the ball well, but then hit a lull in the middle innings.

“We turned it back on in the sixth after Mariah’s home run, then hit a couple balls off the fence.”

Lauren Gibb had two hits for the Gaels, including a triple. Hailey Oswald also contributed a triple.

Henning had a double to help her own cause. Toryn Helle drove in two, while Myers, Gibb and Hailey Oswald also tallied RBI.

The Gaels are back in action on Thursday when they host South Hardin. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m.
