Tritons win twice in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Iowa Central women’s basketball team stayed unbeaten on the young season, winning two games at the Penn Valley tournament on Friday and Saturday.
The Tritons (3-0 overall) beat Metropolitan 74-43 on Friday and knocked off Haskell Indian Nations 57-43 on Saturday.
In Friday’s win, Olivia Miller led the Tritons with 19 points. Miller hit five of Iowa Central’s seven three pointers.
Fort Dodge Senior High graduate Lainey Maehl had 11 points, five rebounds and five steals and two blocks.
In Saturday’s victory, Ashlin Jacobsen (14 points) and Hannah Bogdonovich (10) came off the bench to reach double figures.
The Tritons got 34 points from their reserves. Miller led the starters with eight points. Kiara Baptiste had 10 rebounds in the contest.
The Tritons are back in action on Wednesday when they host Central-Columbus at Hodges Fieldhouse. Tip is set for 5 p.m. inside Hodges Fieldhouse.
