Double dual for Dodgers at DMR

DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge wrestling team will hit the road for the final time in 2024 on Thursday.

The seventh-ranked (IAwrestle) Dodgers head to Des Moines Roosevelt to take on the Roughriders and Des Moines Lincoln.

Action begins at 5:30 p.m., with FDSH facing the Railsplitters. The Dodgers then square off with Roosevelt at approximately 6 p.m.

Fort Dodge will then wrap up the first portion of its season by hosting the 50th annual Don Miller Invitational on Saturday.

The Dodgers are coming off a sixth-place showing at the Council Bluffs Classic.

Top-ranked (IAwrestle) senior Koy Davidson knocked off the No. 1 wrestler in Kansas to claim the 144-pound crown.

Sophomore Joe Constable (285) was second, while classmate Trace Rial (106) was third and junior Jesse Egli (175) took fourth.

Coming off of two tough weekend tournaments, head coach Bobby Thompson continues to see gradual progression.

“I think overall, we’ve gotten better,” Thompson said. “Each time out, we’re taking positive steps.

“The goal is to wrestle aggressively and get falls and tech falls.”

Both Lincoln and Roosevelt have been struggling with numbers, so the Dodgers will look to grow by concentrating on their own camp.

“There will be a lot of forfeits,” Thompson said. “We just have to go out and work hard when we have the chance.”
