Fort Dodge boys host Roosevelt in Dodger pool
Carter Jorgensen had the top finish for the Fort Dodge boys swim team here Tuesday night, as the Dodgers dropped a dual to Des Moines Roosevelt, 142-28.
Jorgensen, a senior, clocked a time of 5:34.20 to place second in the 500 freestyle. He had an opening left of 29.56 and closed strong in 32.96.
Along with the silver, Jorgensen was also fourth in the 100 backstroke in 1:07.36 and swam the opening leg of the 400 freestyle relay that took third.
Joining Jorgensen on the relay were Aiden Seagren, Evan Cooper and Kael Keith, as the quartet went 4:00.50. Jorgensen had an opening leg of 28.62 to get Fort Dodge going strong.
Individual fourth place finishes on the night for the Dodgers went to Seagren, Keith, Nathan Klocke, Cooper, Ayden Hernandez and Brek Pingel.
“It was a great night of swimming,” FDSH head coach Ashley Beaumont said. “We have been training hard with no meets last week so you can tell the boys were feeling it.
“Great times from Nathan Klocke in the 200 free, dropping 13 seconds from two weeks ago. Also it was great to see some consistency in times from Carter in the 500. I think he is really going to do something special in that event.”
Along with sweeping the relay races, Roosevelt had double event winners in Colby Briggs and Fritz Barber. Jack Franks, Taylor Thompson and Joe Schwieswo also won races.
The Roughriders are 15th in the latest power rankings.
Rowan Poutre won the junior varsity 100 backstroke for the Dodgers and Chancellor Grimm captured the junior varsity 200 freestyle.
Fort Dodge is right back in action on Thursday when they host Marshalltown and Bishop Garrigan beginning at 5:30 p.m. in a triangular. That will mark the final swims of 2024 for the Dodgers, who open the new year on Jan. 9 at Des Moines East.
