Fort Dodge earns swim win vs. Garrigan
The Fort Dodge boys swim team put a cap on a busy week by securing a win over Bishop Garrigan here Thursday night.
The Dodgers downed the Golden Bears in the FDSH pool, 64-28, falling to Marshalltown, 76-18.
Carter Jorgensen and Brady Major each had runner-up performances to lead the way. Jorgensen claimed silver in the 500 freestyle in 5:34.87, finishing within six seconds of first.
Major placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.36.
Jorgensen added a third in the 200 freestyle in 2:09.22 as Evan Cooper was third in the 100 butterfly (1:05.70) and Aiden Seagren placed third in the 200 individual medley (2:34.52).
Jorgensen, Seagren, Cooper and Kael Keith swam on the third-place 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. The medley went 1:58.46 to place less than two seconds behind the winner while the freestyle hit in 3:56.29.
Rowan Poutre was second and Brek Pingel had two thirds for the Dodger junior varsity.
For the Golden Bears, Matt Besch captured the 100 butterfly in 59.79 and was third in the 50 freestyle. Colin Roberts placed just a second behind the 100 breaststroke winner to add a silver to his bronze in the 100 freestyle.
Besch, Roberts, Axel Mortensen and Dalton Klenz placed third in the 200 freestyle relay.
Marshalltown’s Landon Stanley and Jacob Seberger were double winners while Kade Randall, Lincoln Barker, Charles Gilbertson and Michael Lechnir each won one event. The Bobcats swept the relays.
Fort Dodge is back in action in 2025 when they head to Des Moines East on Jan. 9.
