Three straight for SE boys
GOWRIE — The St. Edmond boys used a rally late here Tuesday night to remain unbeaten on the season, posting a 54-44 victory over Southeast Valley.
Hunter Horn scored 23 points with Jakob Koopman adding 13 and Carson Bargfrede eight for the Gaels (3-0 overall).
For the Jaguars (1-3), Drake Warland matched Horn with 23 points but was the lone player in double figures.
“It was a four-point game late in the fourth before we made a couple big plays,” SEHS head coach Adolph Kochendorfer said. “Jakob had a bucket in the lane and Jack (McElroy) knocked down a three-pointer.
“Give (Southeast Valley) credit because they played hard. Warland is a tough kid to defend. I thought we did a good job on him in the fourth but he still made plays.”
McElroy added seven points and Andrew Clavey three for St. Edmond, who has won each of the last four meetings between the two.
Cole Lundgren had six and Brady Hanson five for the Jaguars.
The Gaels remain on the road, returning to North Central Conference play Friday at Iowa Falls-Alden. Southeast Valley remains home, hosting Emmetsburg.
