Dodger girls fall to Sioux City West

SIOUX CITY — It’s been a diffcult week for the Fort Dodge girls.

Following losses to Mason City and Ames, the Dodgers found out they will also be without the services of sophomores Maddie Hoshaw and Addison Lentsch, who have season-ending injuries.

On Friday night, Fort Dodge dropped its third straight, falling to Sioux City West, 57-39.

LJ Maehl scored 11 points with Meah McCaleb adding eight for the Dodgers. Malay Hollins finished with five and Dakota Pommer added four.

McCaleb pulled down seven rebounds, while Hollins finished with four steals.

“We just got down early and never recovered,” said Fort Dodge head coach Scott Messerly. “This was a good shooting team we ran into and just played too soft of defense.”

Fort Dodge returns to action on Monday when they head to Algona for a 7:30 p.m. tip before taking on Des Moines East in a rematch Tuesday in Des Moines.

The next home game for the Dodgers will be Friday night vs. Des Moines Hoover.
