Dodgers fall to strong Ames squad

AMES — The Fort Dodge boys ran into one of the top teams in Class 4A here Tuesday night, falling to Ames, 62-20.

The Little Cyclones used their size to take control, racing out to a 15-2 lead after the first. They expanded that to a 28-point advantage at the break, holding the Dodgers to just 13 points through three quarters.

Cade Westerhoff scored eight to lead Fort Dodge (1-7 overall, 0-4 in Iowa Alliance North), as Tytrell Mosley added four. Carter Woodruff and Tayven Altman each had three while Kauner Jensen finished with two.

“That length really bothered us,” FDSH head coach Willie Williams said. “They are just so long and so tall, and that’s something we can’t simulate in practice.

“But I liked our energy, especially compared to Monday night. I thought we had great energy and great effort all night long.”

Ames (9-1, 9-1, 3-0) was led by Abram Vos, as the senior scored 12. Manny Lueth, a 6-foot-5 senior, added 10, and Isaiah Knight finished with nine. The Little Cyclones have won seven in a row.

Fort Dodge returns to action on Friday when they travel to Sioux City West.

Starting at $2.99/week.
