MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge girls basketball team didn’t have an answer for Mason City on Friday night.

The Dodgers (7-9 overall) trailed 36-11 at the half and couldn’t get back in the contest, falling 57-25.

“The first three minutes were promosing,” said Fort Dodge head coach Scott Messerly. “We didn’t play well after that at all.

“We left their shooters open and we have to be better next week.”

Dakota Pommer, LJ Maehl and Ellie Doster led the Dodgers with six points each.

Bella Lee added five and Brooklyn Pommer had three points.

Machaela Trask led the Riverhawks with 11 points, while Anna Latham had 10 points.

Mason City won the first meeting in the Dodger gym, 44-32.

In that contest Latham had 16, while Gracyn Braun had 10 and Trask had nine.

Fort Dodge was led by Maehl with 11 points.

The Dodgers are back in action on Tuesday when they host Marshalltown. Tip is set for 6:15 p.m. as part of a girl/boy doubleheader.
