Dodgers stopped by NW, Valley
WAUKEE — The Fort Dodge wrestling team opened action in 2025 with a pair of tough dual losses to Waukee Northwest and West Des Moines Valley here Thursday night.
The Dodgers fell to the Wolves, 62-12, and the Tigers, 51-22.
Rylee Brown, Jesse Egli and Joe Constable each went unbeaten on the night while Trace Rial went 1-1.
In the dual with Waukee Northwest, Constable closed things out at heavyweight with a thrilling 9-2 sudden-victory. Tied at 2-all, the sophomore hit Brayden Williams with a takedown and four-point near-fall for the win.
Brown scored a fall at 157 pounds vs. Gabe Rubino, pinning him in 2:48, while Egli added a 7-1 decision at 175 over Bryce Williams.
Bo Marsh dropped a tough 6-4 decision to Bryce Culp at 126 pounds.
Constable added a second pin against the Tigers, finishing off Ari Raridon in 2:29 after dominating him in the first period.
Egli scored a fall vs. West Des Moines Valley to finish his night perfect. He pinned Alex Shipley in 1:31.
Brown was awarded a forfeit to also complete a 2-0 evening.
Rial fell to defending state champion Carew Christensen of Waukee Northwest, rebounding with a 9-1 major decision vs. Oliver Lange from Valley to cap that dual off.
Hunter Kasperbauer and Jayce Skow both dropped close decisions.
Cael Adams, Drake Hayes and John Phan each went 2-0 in junior varsity matches for the Dodgers. Adams scored two falls, Hayes had a pair of technical falls and Phan won by pin and major decision.
Fort Dodge returns to action next Thursday when they host Waterloo East.
